ULL set to march
in Macy’s parade
LAFAYETTE — Keep a lookout for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Pride of Acadiana Marching Band on Thursday while watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The band is one of 10 marching bands selected to perform in the holiday parade.
This is a return trip for the band, which made its first appearance in the nationally televised parade in 2005.
The parade broadcast starts at 9 a.m.
Community College to hold open house
OPELOUSAS — South Louisiana Community College will hold a Community Open House on Tuesday at its T.H. Harris campus in Opelousas.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and is open to the community to visit the campus and meet students, faculty and staff. Programs offered at the college will also be on display.
Some of the programs offered on the campus include: air conditioning and refrigeration, business office technology, drafting and design technology, electrician, non-destructive testing, practical nursing and welding.
Lafayette transit shut down Thursday
LAFAYETTE — The Lafayette Transit System will not operate its bus service Thursday but will resume Friday with an amended bus schedule from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

‘Christmas Vacation’ to play in Parc series
LAFAYETTE — The Movies in the Parc series continues Saturday with a showing of “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” in Parc International in downtown Lafayette.
The movie will begin at dusk. Admission is $2 and free for children 5 and younger. Concessions will be available at the event.
