Baton Rouge man, 39, indicted in rape of child

A grand jury accused a 39-year-old Baton Rouge man Thursday of raping a child during a five-year period.

David Chambers, 2127 Goudchaux Drive, was indicted by an East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury on two counts of aggravated rape.

One of the counts alleges Chambers raped the child, now 11, from approximately Sept. 16, 2007, until approximately Aug. 3 of this year, according to the indictment.

The other count accuses him of raping the child Aug. 4.

An aggravated rape conviction would carry an automatic sentence of life in prison.

The case has been assigned to state District Judge Don Johnson.
