Berwick man, 21, dies  from accident injuries

A Berwick man who was injured in a head-on collision Thursday died from the injuries, State Police said Monday.

Miles Liner, 21, of Berwick, was taken to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center for treatment of what State Police called critical injuries after his 2006 Nissan Sentra was struck on La. 70 by a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Yancy Hebert, 46, of Pierre Part. Liner died Saturday.

Hebert’s vehicle drifted across the centerline and struck Liner’s car head-on, police officials said, and he was booked on two counts of first-degree vehicular negligent injuring and one count of driving left of center. Hebert, who was treated for minor injuries, displayed signs of intoxication, troopers said, and blood and urine samples were obtained for toxicology tests.

State Police is still awaiting the toxicology results, and additional charges against Hebert are pending.
