Hunters skull found Sunday identified
ST. AMANT — The skeletal remains found Sunday near La. 429 and La. 22 in Ascension Parish have been positively identified as 47-year-old St. Amant resident Robert Alexis, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
Alexis was reported missing by family members in January 2008 after he was last seen at a bar in Maurepas. His truck was found abandoned in a ditch the next day, and a witness saw him walking away from his vehicle toward La. 429, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s authorities said.
Alexis’s skull and other skeletal remains were discovered by two hunters Sunday evening, and they were positively identified Monday by the LSU Forensic Anthropology and Computer Enhancement Services Laboratory, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Investigators also found his driver’s license in a wallet that was found beneath the skeletal remains, authorities said. No foul play is suspected.
