School Board sets meeting on bond sale
LAFAYETTE — The Lafayette Parish School Board has scheduled a special meeting for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to authorize the sale of $30 million in bonds to fund school repair and construction projects.
The school district has proposed using the funding to alleviate overcrowding at Green T. Lindon Elementary and Youngsville Middle and to make improvements at other schools in the district.
The School Board gave its approval Oct. 3 to hire an architectural firm for the expansion of Green T. Lindon and to begin the search for an architect for the expansion of Youngsville Middle.
A full list of projects to be funded by the $30 million, and an additional $3 million from the district’s capital projects budget was presented to the board at its Sept. 19 meeting as an introduction item.
The list has not been presented again on the agenda for action, but is scheduled for discussion during the board’s retreat set for Saturday.
