Police arrest man
on marijuana count

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a Metairie man with a long history of narcotics violations after deputies said they found marijuana in an unusual location during a traffic stop.

Granville Richardson, 21, was booked with marijuana possession on Saturday, but those charges were bumped up because it was his third marijuana-related arrest and he was already convicted of marijuana possession in 2007, according to an arrest report. Richardson was arrested after he was pulled over for an unspecified traffic violation near the intersection of Danny Park and the South Interstate-10 Service Road.

Deputies say that during the stop, Richardson voluntarily admitted that he was carrying narcotics and told them it was hidden in his gas tank. When deputies searched the car, they found a bag of marijuana in the gas cap. Richardson was arrested without incident.
