Man found dead inside vacant home

Police said an unidentified man was found dead Friday afternoon in an abandoned home in Treme.

The incident was reported shortly after 5 p.m. in the 2500 block of Orleans Avenue. Police were called out to the scene after the body was discovered and found the victim with a gunshot wound.

Officer Garry Flot said it appeared there was no electrical power at the home.

Police did not have a motive or suspect in the case, and it was unclear how long the man had been dead.

Fire destroys Treme home; no one hurt

A massive fire destroyed a Treme home Friday afternoon.

The New Orleans Fire Department said the blaze was reported at 4:08 p.m. at the intersection of North Robertson Street and Esplanade Street.

The blaze was a five-alarm fire.

No details were immediately available on the incident, and no injuries were initially reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
