Cycle Construction Co., a Kenner-based civil construction company, announced Monday it had acquired Professional Construction Services Inc. of New Orleans, which specializes in industrial contracting.
Financial details of the acquisition were not released.
Cycle officials said the acquisition will diversify the services it can provide and allows it to enter the industrial contracting field at a time when petrochemical construction is booming. Cycle has been busy with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects around New Orleans, most recently levee raising near Audubon Park and site work for the VA Medical Center.
Cycle was founded in 2000 by Jonathan Kernion, while PCS got its start in 1973.
PCS will continue to operate under its own name, as a business unit of Cycle. Cycle currently has 84 employees, while PCS has 44. Cycle officials said they hope the acquisition will lead to more hiring.
