Hammond man dies in I-12 ramp crash

A Hammond man was killed Thursday after he lost control of his pickup while exiting Interstate 12 at Albany and struck a ditch, Louisiana State Police said.

Bruce Beever, 74, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected from his 2003 GMC pickup when the truck slid off to the right of the road and overturned about 3:30 p.m., Trooper First Class Russell Graham said in a news release.

Beever was pronounced dead at the scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office, Graham said.

Graham said troopers do not believe alcohol was a factor, but a sample of his blood was sent to the State Police Crime Lab.
