Robbery victim shot in ankle at apartment
A 49-year-old man was shot in the ankle Thursday by two men who robbed him outside his apartment, a Baton Rouge police spokesman said.
The man was standing outside his apartment in the 3000 block of Wyoming Street at 3:45 a.m. smoking a cigarette when he was approached by two men demanding money, one armed with a gun, Cpl. L’Jean Mc-Kneely said.
The victim told the men he didn’t have any money and starting walking toward his apartment, McKneely said. The men forced the victim inside, robbed him and shot him in the ankle before running off.

Sheriff’s Office: Man sent lewd texts to girl
East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Metairie man Thursday and accused him of sending sexually inappropriate messages to an undercover detective posing as a 14-year-old girl.
Michael Stafford, 26, 2200 Severn Ave., Metairie, communicated in July via the Internet, cellphone and text message with whom he believed to be a teenage girl, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said.
During the communication, Stafford sent lewd or lascivious text messages to a person who was really an undercover sheriff’s detectives posing as the girl as part of a joint investigation with the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, Hicks said.
Stafford was booked into Parish Prison on one count each of indecent behavior with a juvenile and computer aided solicitation of a minor.
Man, 33, booked on sexual battery counts
A 33-year-old Baton Rouge man accused of sexually battering a girl three times in three years was arrested Wednesday and booked into Parish Prison, an arrest warrant says.
The girl was between the ages of 12 and 16 when the crimes occurred in 2007, 2010 and 2011, the warrant says.
Bryan Woest, 19212 Indian Ridge Ave., was booked on two counts of sexual battery and one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile.
Two arrested on suspicion of DWI
Authorities arrested at least two people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and 2:30 p.m. Thursday, booking records show.
Those booked and the counts against them:
- Emily Normand, 23, 11070 Mead Road, first-offense DWI and public intimidation.
- Danthony Salvatoi, 22, 604 E. Temperace St., Kent, Wash., first-offense DWI, failure to signal/improper turn and disobey red light.
