Man, woman accused in extortion scheme
The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested two people on allegations of extortion.
The arrests occurred Thursday after the husband of Paige Allyse Lanclos reported that he received a call from a man who threatened to kill his wife unless he gave the man money, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Detectives were able to trace the phone call to the Carencro area, where they found Lanclos, 21, of Scott, and Jordan T. Sterling, 19, of Lafayette, sitting in a vehicle, the news release says.
After questioning, Lanclos said she was never in any harm and was only attempting to get back at her husband for taking her money, the news release says.
Both Sterling and Lanclos are being held in the St. Landry Parish Jail.
