Broussard council fills vacancy; vote April 6

The City Council on Tuesday appointed the daughter of deceased councilman Terry Guilbeau to fill his vacant seat.

Angelique Racca will serve until a special election on April 6, city officials announced Wednesday.

Guilbeau died last month.

“The death of Terry Guilbeau was devastating for our community. Terry was a good public servant and worked tirelessly to make Broussard the community it is today,” Broussard Mayor Charles Langlinais said in a statement.

“We are confident that his daughter will step in to her father’s role and bring the same dedication and selfless spirit to our council and our city and I look forward to working with her.”
