A summer reading program sponsored by the East Baton Rouge Parish Library system Thursday focused on the beauty of fireflies.

Library employees read firefly stories to the children and did firefly-themed arts and crafts projects.

The workshop was part of the parish library system’s “Dream Big, Read” program, which continues through July.

The 12 children attending the firefly event on Thursday were participants in “ArtStars,” a community children’s summer camp organized by a husband and wife team, Elicia and Affonso Brown.

ArtStars also offers dance lessons to kids Tuesday nights at the Delmont library branch, Elicia Brown said.
