Ramp closures planned along interstate

A number of closures on interstate routes in Baton Rouge will affect traffic between Sunday and Thursday, the state Department of Transportation and Development announced.

Between 9 p.m. Sunday and 5 a.m. Monday, northbound and southbound Siegen Lane at the Interstate 10 overpass will be reduced to one lane for bridge work, and northbound and southbound Bluebonnet Boulevard at the I-10 overpass will be reduced to one lane for structural painting, the release says.

Between 9 p.m. Monday and 5 a.m. Tuesday, the I-10 West Bluebonnet Boulevard entrance ramp will be closed for concrete paving, the release says.

Drivers wishing to take I-10 West from Bluebonnet should drive east on I-10 East Frontage Road to Siegen Lane and access I-10 West from Siegen Lane, a news release says.

Oversized vehicles must detour using Exit 187 to U.S. 61 North, the release says. Diverted traffic can reach I-10 by traveling north along U.S. 61, exiting onto I-12 West and traveling west until reaching I-10.

Between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 5 a.m. Wednesday, the I-10 West Essen Lane entrance ramp will be closed for concrete paving, and I-10 East from Essen to Bluebonnet will be reduced to one lane for road work, the release says.

Drivers wishing to take I-10 West from Essen Lane should travel north on Essen to I-12 and travel west on I-12 to I-10 West, the release says.

Once again, oversized vehicles must detour using U.S. 61 North, the release says.

Oversized vehicles traveling east on I-10 must detour to I-12 at the 10-12 split, travel east along I-12, and use Exit 2A, or Airline Highway, the release says. Oversized vehicles traveling west on I-12 must detour using the same exit.

Diverted traffic will be able to reach I-10 by traveling south along Airline Highway, or U.S. 61, until reaching the I-10 on-ramp near Sorrento, the release says.

The I-10 West Essen Lane exit, No. 160, will be closed for an alignment shift between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 5 a.m. Thursday, the release says. Vehicles intending to access Essen Lane from I-10 West should continue west to Exit 159 and travel east on I-12 to Exit 1B, or Essen Lane.

Oversized vehicles must detour using Exit 187, U.S. 61 North, and diverted traffic can reach I-10 by traveling north then traveling west along I-12 until reaching I-10, the release says.

Anyone with questions about the closures is asked to contact DOTD project engineer Brian Owens at (225) 231-4123.
