Woman booked in death
HAMMOND — Officers booked a woman with second-degree murder Thursday in connection with the death of her husband, a Police Department spokesman said.
Police found Jermaine C. Williams, 45, dead in the couple’s home, police Lt. Vincent Giannobile said.
Williams was found in the bedroom of the residence with what appeared to be a stab wound to the chest, Giannobile said.
Officers arrested Lisa Rena Williams, 45, 600 W. Coleman St., at the scene early Thursday.
Detectives booked her into the City Jail on a count of second-degree murder.
She was transferred to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail, Giannobile said.
The woman admitted to police that she killed her husband after they had argued all night, Giannobile said.
Investigators confiscated the weapon believed to have been used in the homicide, he said.
The Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced Jermaine Williams dead at the scene and scheduled an autopsy.
The homicide is the fourth recorded in Hammond this year, Giannobile said.
