La. 1 closure at Intracoastal Canal

The outside northbound lane of La. 1 at the Intracoastal Canal in West Baton Rouge Parish will be closed from Wednesday until Thursday across the length of the bridge, according to the state Department of Transportation and Development.

The lane is being closed at 8 p.m. Wednesday while DOTD crews perform repairs to the bridge, according to a DOTD news release. It will reopen at 5 a.m. Thursday.

DOTD officials said vehicles measuring 11 feet wide or less will be allowed to pass through the construction zone. Oversized vehicles must use a

detour route: La. 1 south to La. 3089 west to La. 70 west to La. 22 north to Interstate 10 west.

DOTD is asking drivers to use caution while passing through the construction zone and to be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
