Police: Peeping Tom suspect arrested

Southern University police arrested a 33-year-old man Friday accused of entering women’s restrooms in a campus library and staring at the women inside, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

A receptionist told police that Marcus Hardesty was going into the women’s restrooms after women entered them, the affidavit says.

Surveillance camera footage also showed Hardesty entering the restrooms, the affidavit says.

Hardesty told police that he was a student at Southern and was using library computers to find job prospects, but that he did not have student identification on him, the affidavit says.

Hardesty tried to escape as an officer began to handcuff him, but the officer subdued Hardesty and took him to headquarters for questioning, the affidavit says.

Hardesty, 7733 La. 67, Clinton, was booked into Parish Prison on one count each of peeping Tom, resisting an officer and disturbing the peace.
