1 held, 1 suspect sought in store thefts
GONZALES — Ascension Parish authorities have arrested one person in connection with the theft of flat screen television sets from stores in Gonzales and Prairieville and are seeking a second, parish sheriff’s deputies said Wednesday.
Ryan Anthony Zeringue Jr., 26, is at large and wanted by sheriff’s deputies on one count of simple robbery and wanted by Gonzales police on three counts of theft of goods, deputies said in a news release.
Zeringue has no known address but is believed to frequent the Valley Park area of Baton Rouge, deputies said.
Zeringue was seen on surveillance video walking out of the Walmart in Prairieville in mid-January with a flat screen without paying, then struggling with a store employee and finally escaping the scene in a 1990s-model Honda Accord, deputies said.
The driver of the Accord, Micha E. Lessard, 22, of 43392 Galvez Oaks, Prairieville, was arrested Feb. 2 by deputies and booked with one count of simple robbery. She is in the Ascension Parish Prison on a $20,500 bond, deputies said.
Gonzales police also have arrested Lessard and booked her with three counts of theft of goods, deputies said.
She and Zeringue were identified after authorities publicized the thefts and surveillance video.
