Man’s body found
in Acadia Parish
Acadia Parish authorities are investigating the death of a 58-year-old man whose body was found in a drainage ditch Tuesday morning.
The man’s body was found at 8:45 a.m. in the 3000 block of Basile Eunice Highway near Basile, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
The Sheriff’s Office said foul play is not suspected in the man’s death.
The man’s body was taken to the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office for an autopsy, the news release said.
The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of family, the release said.
Crowley man, 46, booked in sex case
Louisiana State Police arrested a Crowley man accused of having sex with an underage girl on three occasions in August, according to a police news release.
State Police detectives assigned to the Lake Charles field office arrested Randal Trahan, 46, on Tuesday on three counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile, the news release said.
State Police began investigating the case earlier this month after receiving a complaint from Crowley police, the release said.
If convicted, Trahan faces up to 10 years in prison and up to a $5,000 fine on each count.
1 arrested, 1 sought in home invasion try
YOUNGSVILLE — The Police Department arrested a Lafayette man in an early morning home invasion attempt , according to a police news release.
Two men tried to kick in the front door of the victim’s home, the news release said.
The victim responded by firing two rounds through the door, the release said.
Youngsville officers and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and secured a perimeter around a two-block area, the police news release said.
Police dogs found one suspect, identified as Gregory K. Lemelle, 22, hiding under a boat, the news release said.
Investigators are still trying to determine the identity of the second suspect, the release said.
Lemelle was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on one count of attempted home invasion.
