Carencro man jailed in theft of vehicle
CARENCRO — Officers have arrested an 18-year-old Carencro man accused of stealing one vehicle and breaking into two others, according to a Carencro Police Department news release Friday.
Hiawatha Jones crashed the stolen vehicle Thursday in the 500 block of Rampart Street following a vehicle pursuit by police, the release said. Officers arrested Jones after a foot chase, the release said.
Jones, 220 Auburn Drive, was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on counts of unauthorized use of a moveable, aggravated flight from an officer, illegal possession of stolen things, possession of marijuana, no driver’s license and two counts of simple burglary of a vehicle.

on obscenity charge
CARENCRO — Deputies arrested a 45-year-old Carencro man who is accused of exposing his genitals to a woman while she was inside her home in the 400 block of Bradford Street, according to a Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office news release Friday.
While the woman was on the phone Thursday with deputies, the man exposed himself to the woman again when she returned to the window to see if he was still there, the release said.
Deputies arrested Jackie Rufus Wiggins, no address available, and booked him into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on an obscenity count, the release said.
