Officer booked in sexual conduct
A 41-year-old state Probation and Parole officer is accused of engaging in sexual conduct with women he supervised in Allen Parish, authorities said.
State Police arrested Christopher Drago on Thursday on counts of malfeasance in office and prohibited sexual conduct, State Police said in a news release.
Pam Laborde, spokeswoman for the state Department of Public Safety and Corrections, said Drago has worked with the department since September 2005. She said he was assigned to the Ville Platte district, which covers Allen, Evangeline and St. Landry parishes.
“He is suspended and on paid administrative leave pending the completion of the Department’s investigation,” Laborde said, adding that such measures are required under Civil Service rules.
State Police said the investigation began Jan. 17 after detectives assigned to the Lake Charles Field Office received a complaint that Drago was engaging in sexual conduct with females he supervised in his job.
Both the Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office and the state Division of Probation and Parole assisted troopers in the investigation, State Police said.
The investigation allegedly found that Drago engaged in sexual conduct with females on several occasions, the release said.
Sgt. James Anderson, a spokesman for State Police, declined to discuss the nature of that sexual contact or the number of women involved. Anderson said both factors are part of an ongoing investigation.
Drago was booked into the Allen Parish Jail and released after posting $2,500 bail, according to the jail.
If convicted, Drago faces up to 10 years in prison and a maximum $10,000 fine.
