Monday morning crash kills one, hurts one
A Hammond man was injured and a Raceland man killed in a single-car crash in Lafourche Parish, according to a State Police news release.
Driver Jordy Savoie, 20, of Raceland, was pronounced dead at the scene east of La. 3087 between Raceland and Houma, troopers said in a news release issued Tuesday.
Cody Stevens, 20, of Hammond, Savoie’s passenger in a 2001 Nissan Sentra , was taken to Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma for treatment of moderate injuries, troopers said.
Troopers said the car went off La. 182 westbound to the left into a rock-filled median, overcorrected to the right back across La. 182 and hit several trees shortly before 9 a.m. Monday.
Alcohol use is unknown at this time but toxicology tests are pending, troopers said. Both men wore their seat belts, troopers said. The wreck remains under investigation.
