ULL professor noted
at India conference

University of Louisiana at Lafayette mechanical engineering professor Suren Dwivedi received a lifetime achievement award at the International Conference on Agile Manufacturing held Dec. 18-20 in Agra, India.

Dwivedi is also the director of the university’s virtual reality and product realization lab.

The conference was sponsored by the Lean Institute — Batten College of Engineering and Technology at Old Dominion University of Norfolk, Va., and co-sponsored by The International Society of Agile Manufacturing and the International Society for Productivity Enhancement.

Costumes welcome at bicentennial fete

A reception celebrating the beginning of the Louisiana Bicentennial celebrations and the opening of the exhibition “Satire, Scandal and Spectacle: The Art of George Schmidt” will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum.

The event is free. Guests are encouraged to dress as their favorite Louisiana characters or historical figures.
