Sheriff’s Office seeking info in two cold cases
AMITE — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for help from the public in an investigation of two cold-case slayings, a spokeswoman said Friday.
In December 2004, a hunter found a human skull in an area near Robert, according to a press release from Dawn Panepinto of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.
That discovery led to discovery of a shallow grave containing human remains, the release says.
Forensic analysis determined that the bones in the grave were those of Wayne Trimane Thompson, who was 19 years old when he was reported missing by his father in 1998, the release says.
In the second case, the body of Walter John Daniels, 51, of Independence, was found by two people March 19, 2007, in a ditch on Larussa Lane in Independence.
Detectives, who found no leads in either case, are requesting anyone with information about the killings to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800- 554-5245 or the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985) 902-2088.
