Suspect arrested in Friday slaying

Deputies arrested a Kentwood man on second-degree murder in the shooting death of a man Friday night, a Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said Monday.

The body of Etoryi McGee, 35, of Amite, was found lying in a ditch on Houeye Road in Roseland, said Dawn Pannepinto, the Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.

Shortly after the incident, detectives arrested Carlos Clemmons, 31, who surrendered at his home on La. 1049 in Kentwood without incident, Panepinto said.

The victim, who had been riding in a car with Clemmons, had multiple gunshot wounds to his chest, she said.

Investigators believe the pair argued, Clemmons stopped the car and shot his passenger, Panepinto said.

She said she had no information on how detectives linked Clemmons to the case.

The exact location of the shooting has not been determined, Panepinto said.

After the shooting, Clemmons drove to Houeye Road where he dumped the body in a ditch, she said.

Panepinto said the matter is still under investigation and she had no information about the weapon used in the killing.
