Livingston woman found stabbed to death at home

A 47-year-old Livingston woman was found dead in her living room Saturday morning with stab wounds, and the 27-year-old man living with her told deputies he killed her, according to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Joy Messina, of 28065 S. Satsuma Road, Livingston, had cut marks across her throat and stomach, said Lori Steele, a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.

Caleb Lee Lejeune, who had been living with Messina for several weeks, was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on a count of second-degree murder, Steele said.

Steele said the two were not married but did not elaborate on the nature of their relationship.

Lejeune was not at the home when authorities arrived, but drove by while deputies were there, Steele said. Authorities stopped him about a mile away from the home, on South Satsuma Road near Spring Ranch Road, where he admitted killing Messina, Steele said.

A motive in the killing is unclear at this point, and deputies are still investigating, Steele said.
