ADVOCATE STAFF REPORT Aug. 22, 2014 Comments The Baton Rouge Poice Department is investigating a former employee of the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center on felony theft charges in that employee’s use of a corporate credit card for more than $16,000 in purchases of pesonal items, according to a statement issued by Cpl. Don Coppola of the BRPD. Larry Dale Butler, 49, 15 Grand Cypress Court, New Orleans, was hired as the center’s director of facilities on June 2, 2014, and issued two corporate cards, which were to be used only for work-related expenses. After sending an email to Mary Bird Perkins’ Human Resources department on Aug. 11 letting them know he had another job opportunity and would not be in, Butler was terminated. The Human Resources department then discovered that Butler had made $16,201.53 in personal charges on the cards. Butler admitted to Human Resources that he is responsible for the charges, but has made no restitution attempts. The BRPD is seeking Butler on felony theft charges in the incident.
