Holiday plant advice, Feb. 6, 2009
Ed Cullen, author of the "In The Yard" column, had the following advice for the holiday cactus: Winter out your holiday cactus near a sunny window. Too much watering leads to root rot, but you need to keep the growing medium moist. When warm weather comes - and stays - move the holiday cactus outside under high shade or to a place where it gets morning sun but protection from blasting midday and afternoon sun. With proper care, the holiday cactus may bloom for many Thanksgivings and Christmases.Advocate file photo by LORI WASELCHUK
