Baker man accused of stabbing girlfriend

Baker Police say a man stabbed his live-in girlfriend with two large kitchen knives in front of their Florida Street home on Thursday night while their five children were at the scene.

Iverson Butler, 34, was arguing with his girlfriend when she went inside the home in the 1900 block of Florida Street and came back out with the knives, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

The woman then stabbed Butler in the leg — but Butler grabbed the knives away and stabbed her several times in the upper torso, the affidavit says.

The woman lost consciousness but revived to tell police what happened, the affidavit says, and was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Butler has been arrested at least three times on counts of domestic abuse, and his criminal history includes aggravated sex crimes, according to the affidavit.

It is unclear whether the children, who ranged from 4 to 17 years old, saw the stabbing take place.

Butler was booked into Parish Prison Friday on counts of aggravated second-degree battery and felony domestic abuse battery.

Man accused of raping woman he helped move

Police say a Baton Rouge man raped an 18-year-old woman while she and her small child had been sleeping on a mattress in her new apartment on Monday.

The woman had been kicked out of her Sherwood Forest area apartment when she called Tyrin Duncan, 21, for help getting a ride to her new apartment on College Drive, according to the affidavit of probable cause. She had met Duncan at a food stamp office about a week earlier.

Duncan drove the woman and her small child to the apartment, and they also talked until she fell asleep with her small child beside her. But when the woman awoke some time later, Duncan was on top of her, the affidavit says.

Duncan, of 150 S. 21st St., Baton Rouge, was booked into Parish Prison Monday on a count of sexual battery, booking records show.
