Saints Tuesday morning briefing, Aug. 12

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. Va. -- Three more practices before the Saints come home.

The players and coaches all say that they have enjoyed their time in West Virginia. Coach Sean Payton said the team is not yet thinking about getting back home since there is still work to do this week.

Even so, things are winding down here as New Orleans prepares to host the Tennessee Titans Friday night for the second preseason game.

ABOUT MONDAY: It was a wet and sloppy affair. Multiple snaps were fumbled, passes were dropped, and players had trouble holding onto the ball.

In short, it wasn’t the Saints’ best practice. But that’s OK. The conditions gave the team time to work on in the elements that often caused trouble last season.

ON TODAY’S AGENDA: The Saints practice from 7:50-11:40 a.m. at The Greenbrier. The afternoon walkthrough will run from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR: The injury watch continues. The usual suspects, such as quarterback Drew Brees and cornerback Champ Bailey, remain out of action. But Monday’s walkthrough provided an unexpected twist when linebacker David Hawthorne was among those not spotted.
