Patricia Gannon: Lynne performs in Lafayette

Lynne performs in Lafayette

Frank and Tony Productions presented Shelby Lynne in concert at the Vermilionville Performance Center. A dressy-casual crowd turned out to hear the Alabama singer-songwriter play somethin’ country, including Tony Morrow, Rebecca Comeaux, Frankie and Charon Harris, and Steve and Monica Boutte. “This is our 15th show and we do it for fun, just so long as we break even,” longtime Lafayette businessman Frank Camalo said. What we loved: Camalo’s skull-patterned shirt and yellow sneakers, Becky Bermudez’s western boots and salon owner Rebecca Comeaux, who loved our hair.

Chef’s table takes off

Select foodies answered the siren call of E’s Kitchen in Parc Lafayette to taste the collaboration between chef Michelle Youngberg and Bayou Teche Brewing. The TV-pretty chef was ready on the line and rolled out her ruby red smoked trout with broccoli sprouts, local goat cheese and cracked pepper brined in Acadie beer along with her menu notes. “Everything was incorporated with a beer,” said Youngberg, who heads Heather Mountain Catering when not cooking at E’s. “Even the tiramisu was made with beer.” Her culinary performance ended French-style, with a salad of bitter greens, beer-brined peaches, citrus cane dressing and daikon shoots. Enjoying their beer were Louis Michot, Byron Knott, Judy Dunn and Paul Ayo.
