A day after arriving at the airport of the neighboring town of Lewisburg on Wednesday, players will attend meetings, undergo physicals and take their strength and conditioning tests, none of which is open to the public. General Manager Mickey Loomis will host his first media session of the preseason about 4:45 p.m., and coach Sean Payton will do the same about 15 minutes later. The Saints then begin their on-field work with a non-padded practice beginning at 7:50 a.m. Friday. A walkthrough later in the day will be at 3:30 p.m. The pads come on Saturday morning. The media and public can access all practices at The Greenbrier as of Friday, weather-permitting. Who speaks when? Meanwhile, the team on Thursday released the tentative list of players scheduled to hold news conferences with the media after practices from Friday to Monday. Live tweeting of the players’ remarks from any number of sources should begin each day about 11 a.m., and the team website NewOrleansSaints.com usually streams video. Friday: Quarterback Drew Brees, running back Pierre Thomas, tight end Jimmy Graham, right tackle Zach Strief, defensive end Cameron Jordan, inside linebacker Curtis Lofton, safety Kenny Vaccaro and punter Thomas Morstead. Graham will speak for the first time since signing a four-year, $40 million contract extension July 15. Saturday: Backup quarterback Luke McCown, running back Mark Ingram, wide receiver Kenny Stills, left guard Ben Grubbs, defensive lineman Akiem Hicks, inside linebacker David Hawthorne, cornerback Keenan Lewis and outside linebacker Junior Galette. Sunday: Quarterback Ryan Griffin, rookie receiver and first-round draft pick Brandin Cooks, running back Khiry Robinson, right guard Jahri Evans, outside linebacker Victor Butler, outside linebacker Parys Haralson, cornerback Champ Bailey, safety Jairus Byrd and kicker Shayne Graham. Byrd will be speaking for the first time since undergoing what was called minor back surgery in late May and missing offseason and minicamp practices. Monday: Running back Travaris Cadet, wide receiver Nick Toon, wide receiver Robert Meachem, tight end Benjamin Watson, center Jonathan Goodwin, fullback Erik Lorig, guard/center Tim Lelito, left tackle Terron Armstead and safety Rafael Bush. Ozougwu to injured reserve After being cut by the Saints on Tuesday with a failed physical designation and clearing waivers, outside linebacker Cheta Ozougwu landed on New Orleans’ injured reserve. He can stay there all season; or he can be paid an injury settlement, released from the Saints’ IR and permitted to pursue another team.
