Lafayette man booked in fatal shooting on South Buchanan

An 18-year-old Lafayette man was jailed Thursday in the shooting death of a man Wednesday night on South Buchanan Street, police said.

Noah Keonolom was booked on one count of second-degree murder after 61-year-old Davis Thibodeaux died in a local hospital of a single gunshot wound, Lafayette police Sgt. Kyle Soriez said in news release.

Witnesses told police that Thibodeaux was shot by someone who fired several shots from a passing white pickup truck at 11 p.m. in the 100 block of South Buchanan.

Thibodeaux was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Soriez said.
