A 1-year-old child in the other vehicle who was not properly restrained suffered minor injuries in the crash, Trooper Jared Sandifer said. Kyle A. Rigdon was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Impala southbound on U.S. 51, north of old U.S. 51 in Tangipahoa Parish, shortly after 8 a.m., when he attempted to make a U-turn and was struck by 19-year-old Adrian J. Seiber’s northbound 2012 Chevrolet Impala, Sandifer said. Rigdon was wearing his seat belt but suffered fatal injuries in the crash, Sandifer said. Seiber, of Amite, also was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor to moderate injuries. Driver impairment is not suspected on the part of either driver, Sandifer said, but toxicology samples were taken from both and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
