Prairieville man gets 40-year prison sentence for child porn Prairieville man gets 40-year prison sentence for child porn Advocate staff report July 16, 2014 Comments A 43-year-old Prairieville man, who pled guilty in February to distribution and possession of child pornography, must serve 40 years in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release, a federal judge has ruled. U.S. Attorney Walt Green announced on Thursday the sentencing by U.S. District Court Judge Shelly D. Dick of Clinton D. Smith. According to the factual basis presented in connection with his guilty plea, between Nov. 25, 2012 to Feb. 20, 2013, Smith distributed 49 images and 15 videos of child pornography and received 80 images of child pornography. Many of the images depicted prepubescent minors, and several depicted violent, sadistic, or masochistic conduct, according to press release. At sentencing, Dick considered evidence of Smith’s history of prior sexual abuse of several child victims and his role in the production of pornographic images, the press release said. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
