The father told police he suffered a broken jaw in March when his “baby momma” punched him multiple times while she held their 4-month-old baby, according to an arrest warrant. He said people inside the apartment wouldn’t let him leave during the ordeal. The baby’s mother, Deanna M. Stewart, 23, also was among people inside the apartment who took the father’s cellphone and broke it to prevent him from calling police, the affidavit says. Stewart, of 1957 N. Ardenwood Drive, Apt. 41, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of second-degree battery and principal to false imprisonment, booking records show. Hidden camera catches theft from patient, 90 A hidden camera set up in the bedroom of a 90-year-old woman suffering with dementia caught a caregiver on June 17 taking money from the woman’s purse, court records say. The victim’s son installed the camera after the daytime caregiver told him that money in his mother’s purse was usually gone when the daytime caregiver returned the next day, the affidavit of probable cause says. On the camera footage, the son saw another caregiver, Demetrius Webb, 37, taking $60 from the purse in the older woman’s bedroom, the affidavit says. The victim’s son said people are not allowed to go into his mother’s purse and take money, the affidavit says. Webb was arrested Tuesday. She said she was allowed to take up to $10 from the woman’s purse, but denied taking anything else, the affidavit says. Webb, 4969 Manda Road, Torbert, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of theft and exploitation of the infirmed. Fallen tree cited in Greenwell Street fire A tree that fell on a Greenwell Street house Sunday led to electrical problems that may have sparked a fire Wednesday morning, leaving a bedroom damaged, a Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman said. Firefighters arrived at the home at 4068 Greenwell St. at 10:11 a.m. and found flames coming from a front bedroom window, Mark Miles, the department’s spokesman, said. Firefighters extinguished the flames and kept the fire from spreading, Miles said. The rest of the house received severe smoke damage and minor water damage. Investigators determined an electrical short in the front bedroom led to the fire, and the occupants told investigators that they had some electrical problems inside the home since the tree fell Sunday. The one person in the home at the time was a hearing-impaired woman, but she and her two dogs escaped the house unharmed, Miles said.
