Advocate staff report July 07, 2014 Comments Two Abbeville men accused of killing Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Allen Bares Jr. last week will face additional charges of armed robbery and obstruction of justice, State Police said Wednesday. Quintylan Richard, 20, and Baylan Taylor, 19, were already facing charges of first-degree murder, unauthorized use of a moveable and burglary in the case. Bares, a 12-year law enforcement veteran, was killed June 23 when he encountered two Abbeville men suspected of burglarizing a home near where Bares was cutting grass on his day off, according to State Police. The two men allegedly stole Bares’ vehicle at gunpoint, which State Police said is the basis of the armed robbery charges.
