WEBER Associated Press DALLAS (AP) — Democrat Wendy Davis says talk that her underdog bid for Texas governor faces too steep a climb is “absurd.” Davis told reporters Saturday that she trusts “people are going to commit the energy to make this happen.” The Fort Worth state senator says she’s overcome bigger deficits in her elections to the Legislature and can do so again come November. Switching campaign managers this month and polls that continue to show Republican Attorney General Greg Abbott with a big lead have Davis confronting new questions about her chances. All eyes have been on Davis at the Texas Democratic Convention that wraps up Saturday. She says her campaign will have the money to match Abbott in television spending and says there’s “no way” he can match her ground operation of volunteers.
