Bodies of two missing tubers found in Amite River Bodies of two missing tubers found in Amite River Advocate staff report July 02, 2014 Comments The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office recovered two bodies Sunday evening on the Upper Amite River near Watson and deputies said the two likely drowned while tubing with a group of friends. The two victims were Joshua Caleb Brantley, 26, of Rue St. Martin, Hammond, and Philip H. White, 26, of Dueling Oaks Avenue, Marrero, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Lori Steele said. Steele said alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the incident. Deputies began a search at about 2 p.m. Sunday following reports of two people missing who had been tubing on the river with about 10 other friends, Steele said. Authorities found the victims four hours later at 6 p.m., about half a mile from their starting point in the river. Divers, marine division personnel and local fire departments assisted in the search, Steele said. The investigation is continuing, she said.
