Armed robber strikes 'Payday' loan company

A Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman on Thursday released a photo of a man wanted in the Tuesday armed robbery of EZ Payday Loans on Airline Highway.

A man wearing an orange safety vest and work boots entered the business at 11:48 a.m. pretending to be a customer before drawing a handgun, ordering an employee to fill a plastic bag with cash. The robber took the bag filled with $2,020, pressed an exit button while covering his hand in his shirt and left on foot, Casey Rayborn Hicks, a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman, said.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact the Armed Robbery Division at (225) 389-3845 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
