Baton Rouge firefighters suspect arson in vacant house fire

Baton Rouge firefighters are blaming arson for a Thursday morning fire that destroyed a vacant house at 4731 Ford St.

Arriving at 4:40 a.m., firefighters “noticed fire coming from the front of the house, and within minutes the whole house was fully involved in flame,” Mark Miles, a spokesman with the Baton Rouge Fire Department, said.

The blaze was under control by 4:47 a.m.

The destroyed house had been worth $50,000, Miles said.
