Musicians to honor man who died in canoe accident Musicians to honor man who died in canoe accident Kevin "Rooster" Guy Advocate staff report June 17, 2014 Comments Celebrations honoring the late Kevin “Rooster” Guy will be held at Henry Turner Jr.’s Listening Room on Thursday at 8 p.m. and Friday at 9 p.m. Guy, a roadie with Baton Rouge reggae and funk band Henry Turner Jr. and Flavor, traveled extensively with the group in the past few years. His body was found on the banks of the Mississippi River last week following a canoeing accident. Guy’s disappearance was the focus of an extensive, dayslong aerial and water search. “We have mourned and now we celebrate,” Turner said. “Anyone in the music community who wants to sing a song in his honor has the opportunity to do so.” He said the band appreciated the effort that was made to find Guy. “He was found, but it was not the outcome we had hoped for,” Turner said. The cover charge for the celebration is $10. For information, see www.facebook.com/henryturnerjrlisteningroom or call (225) 802-9681.
