Advocate story June 13, 2014 Comments A vacant house at 4647 Bawell St. caught fire early Friday, causing $45,000 in damage, the Baton Rouge Fire Department reported. Firefighters arriving on the scene around 4:30 a.m. noticed fire coming from the rear of the house. The fire burned the kitchen area and spreaded to the attic above the kitchen. The rest of the home received water and heavy smoke damage. The fire was brought under control by 4:50 a.m. The cause of the fire has not been determined, the Fire Department reported.
