Few details known about victim; no suspect, motive identified
A 22-year-old man was fatally shot Sunday night inside a car parked in the driveway of a Glen Oaks neighborhood home, police said.
Few other details were available Monday about the death of Kentrail Thompson, 22, who was shot multiple times in the driver’s seat of a silver Honda Civic about 9:25 p.m. Sunday in the 5800 block of Crestway Avenue, said Cpl. Don Coppola Jr., a police spokesman.
People inside the home declined to speak to news reporters Monday morning, and attempts to reach Thompson’s relatives were unsuccessful.
Thompson had a last known address at an apartment complex on Crown Avenue — several blocks away from the shooting scene — but he hasn’t lived there for several months, according to the apartment’s current residents who did not know the man.
Police do not have any suspects in the shooting, nor have they pinned down a motive, Coppola said.
Sam Johnson, 77, who lives near the home where the shooting happened, said his dog barked wildly at one point Sunday night — but he never heard any gunshots.
“The neighborhood is not a bad neighborhood,” Johnson said.
However, Johnson did note that he recently had a stereo system stolen from his truck. He also was told by a mailman that a woman down the street recently was robbed.
