In what may be the decisive Game 2 of this NCAA Lafayette super regional, UL-Lafayette will send Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year Carson Baranik (11-1, 3.27 ERA) to the mound. He’ll face off against the Rebels’ Christian Trent (9-0, 2.37) of Madisonville, both one-time pitchers at LSU. Ole Miss is aiming for its first College World Series berth since 1972, UL-Lafayette its second after the 2000 team reached Omaha, Nebraska.
