Each of the finalists is partnering with one or more local firms and will present their credentials at a public meeting at 9 a.m. on June 30 in the Manship Theatre. Those who attend can fill out comment cards for input to the selection committee. The team, led by a landscape architect, has been charged with crafting a new master plan for restoring and “enhancing the lakes and their surroundings in balance with long-term preservation of the natural system.” Fifteen applications were submitted. The finalists are Design Workshop, EDSA, SWA Group in association with Jeffery Carbo Landscape Architects, and Kyle Zick Landscape Architecture. Master planning costs alone for the project are estimated to cost $750,000, which has already been secured by BRAF from donors and other foundations. The master plan ultimately will identify funding for implementation, which will include dredging and shoreline amenities and will cost millions of dollars.
