Baton Rouge couple booked in drug raid

Delta Narcotics Task Force agents arrested a Baton Rouge couple Tuesday during a raid on their home near Perkins Avenue, and seized 0.77 of a pound of marijuana and 754 doses of ecstasy, as well as a pistol and $18,000 in cash, an East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s spokeswoman said.

Police booked Morrow Payton, 45, and Quinteller Jones, 36, of 13760 Chalmette Ave., in to Parish Prison on counts of possession with intent to distribute marijuana and ecstasy, possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm in the presence of a minor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, Casey Rayborn Hicks said in a release.

Investigators say their questioning led to Payton to threaten them with violence, but he did admit to stealing the drugs, money and gun, though he denied selling drugs, Hicks said.

Quinteller admitted to knowing that Payton was selling drugs and also being present for many of the alleged transactions, Hicks said.
