More early dismissals announced in Lafayette Parish schools More early dismissals announced in Lafayette Parish schools | Advocate staff report June 03, 2014 Comments Lafayette Parish School System announced additional early dismissals and bus pick up times for students because of flooding concerns. Charles Burke, Ridge, Westside and L. Leo Judice Elementary schools will be picked up at noon. Any students that can’t be dropped off at home because of road closures will be taken to Judice Middle School and parents will be notified. Judice and Scott middle schools students will be picked up at 1 p.m. Earlier announcements included early dismissal for Carencro Heights and Carencro Middle schools. Ossun Elementary School dismissed students at 9:45 a.m. and Duson Elementary closed earlier Thursday due to the flooding and plumbing problems. If buses are unable to make their normal stops due to high water, students will be brought to Live Oak Elementary, at the corner of Butcher Switch Road and North University Avenue. All public schools in St. Landry Parish will dismiss at noon on Thursday due to weather conditions and possible flooding, the St. Landry Parish School Board announced. Thursday is the last day of school for Lafayette Parish students.
