Baton Rouge firefighters suspect arson in a blaze that destroyed most of a house on 68th Avenue late Saturday, but caused no injuries, the Fire Department said.
When firefighers arrived at 2035 68th Ave., about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, 40 percent of the building was on fire at the back of the house, Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman Robert Combs said Sunday in a news release.
Flames devoured 70 percent of the house by the time firefighters doused the blaze.
The fire also destroyed an older model Honda Accord. Total damage is about $100,000, the release says.
It is not known if anyone was living in the building when the fire started.
The Fire Department urges anyone with information about the fire to contact fire investigators at (225) 354-1419, or Crimestopers.
