Baton Rouge man killed in wreck

A Baton Rouge man died in a wreck early Sunday when his car veered off River Road, slammed into the levee and rolled several times, State Police said.

Jonas E. Heath, 44, was southbound on River Road north of Ben Hur Road about 3:30 a.m. when he missed a left curve in the road, Trooper First Class Jared L. Sandifer said in a news release.

Heath’s Toyota Camry careened off the road to the right and into the levee before overturning.

Heath was wearing a seat belt, Sandifer said, but still suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

Driver impairment is unknown, but a toxicology sample was taken for analysis.
